Teaching Practice November, 2012

I really did not think I will enjoy teaching teenagers but it turned out to be an exciting adventure for me.  Although teenagers need a lot of attention for learning to take place, I am beginning to enjoy it and really look forward to teaching even some more.
For one thing, I realised that it is very important to make sure your students are understanding what you are teaching them.  Do your best to bring it to everyday life and they will surely understand and even appreciate it.  I was teaching a class on File & Folder compression (zipping and unzipping files).  These are technically difficult terms especially to students who do not own or use a computer to begin with.  I talked about tying up a mattrass and untying it again to be able to use it.  I could see the faces of my students beam up because they could relate this easily and thereby understand the jargon.  Although I was happy they understood me well enough, I was rather happy because every time I teach, I discover how to make them understand better.
