Grand Launching of Mankon Bible Translation (Mikan wufi Mankon)

Saturday July 27 was an awesome day in Mankon Place as the Church leaders in Mankon wholeheartedly accepted the Bible Translation Project and are committed to work tirelessly to see that the work of translating the Bible into Mankon language goes to the end. On his part, the Fon of Mankon promised to give his full support to this work and says that it is also his own work and that he is part and parcel of it.
On this very day, a very powerful Inter Church Committee (ICC) was put in place representing Church leaders of various churches in Mankon land to oversee the work of Bible translation in Mankon. The ICC promised to fully do their best to see to it that this project goes forward and to completion. Before there was an ICC and most of its members were hardly having enough time. So this new breed is made up of people who are sure to be available and to give in enough time to this noble task.
CABTAL was heavily represented by the Director of Language services and his team. The DLS said that as a partner with the ICC, CABTAL will do its utmost best to see that the work of language and sustainable community development as a whole will move on smoothly in Mankon. He also said that besides Bible translation, literacy should be highly promoted so that even those who cannot read and write English or French should not be left behind. Besides he added that a Mankon person will fully understand the Scriptures when he/she reads or hears it in Mankon which is the heart language.
The "Nka Ni Kwi" group did a good job of mobilising and preparing a fund raising cake to grace this occasion which saw 600,000xaf raised on the spot and about 400,000xaf in pledges.
