While we were in church today we heard a very loud and strange noise. People started shouting too. When I rushed out, I saw that a beer truck had knocked down an electric pole and the high tension cables were sparking. Good enough, the pole on the other side of the road and so the truck driver was not hurt. This was quite scary as no one wanted to approach it and as bikes will ply at high speed, people were seen shouting so that the bike rider will not run into this and create a bad scene.
I called ENEO in Douala and they responded very well. They asked for the description and promised to call the Bamenda office and a few minutes after the Bamenda office called me asking the precise location and some details. They later send some technicians to take care of the situation. The mess was cleaned up a little bit but the bare high tension cables are still hanging on and very close to the ground so if a truck passes there, the situation might not be a good one. Some of these poles along the way are like traps. They are either rotten at the bottom or like in our case eaten up by termites.
